Feeling all stressed up?  That you failed to reach your sales quota for the last 2 quarters.  That a new colleague outperformed you.  That you fared badly for a major examination.  That you were not as pretty as your best friend.  That your girlfriend left you.  That you made a big blunder during a key presentation.  That you heard of some unkind remarks about yourself.

Things do not always turn out the way we want.  When this happen, you start to worry.  You give yourself pressure.  You begin to wonder.  What will your boss think about your under-performance?  You feel lousy to have lost out to a new colleague.  You feel threatened.  You put in long hours at work but somehow things get worse.  Customers start to complain.  You begin to dislike your job, your colleagues and even your customers.  Other problems surfaced.  You have frequent bad headaches.  Your blood pressure is on the rise.  You feel tired.  You feel restless.  You simply lose your zest for life.  You start to look for instant fixes.  You splurge on clothes. You buy big ticket items.  You indulge in chocolates and ice-cream.  You have no time to exercise.  Your waistline becomes bigger.  You need a change in wardrobe.  Further pressure.  You need more money to maintain your lifestyle.  You feel that life is hard.  You cannot live without the job but you have no choice.

Relax.  Life is not out to get you.  Don't be too hard on yourself.  Slow down a little.  Stay cool.  Analyze the situation. Where is the stress coming from?  Is the quota beyond reach?  Maybe not as your new colleague seems to surpass it easily.   Are you unhappy doing the stuff you are doing?  Probably yes.  Your passion may be somewhere else.  That's why, no matter how much hard work you have put in, you do not see the results.  If that's the case, you will need to find out your true passion – the thing that will keep you alive and joyful, and go for it.

It is not worth your while holding on to something just for the sake of money, but have your health and life ruined.  Learn to let go.  It is not the end of the world.  You can always find a new job or learn a new skill.  Be flexible.  Don't suffer in silence.  There is always a way.  Have faith.
